12/13/2023 0 Comments Cyberlink powerdirector 14 vs. 16![]() You can use that same stabliztaion on 2D action cam footage as well. For example, you can take footage from a 360 action camera, stabalize it, and edit it all within the app. I stuck to editing 1080p videos since my laptop is older but the app supports up to 4K video editing.Ī unique feature to PowerDirector 16 is its support for 360 degree video editing. In my testing, PowerDirector 16 handled editing well, even on my older laptop, and rendered videos well. The app supports plugins which expand its feature set and usability for specific editng scenerios. Will see how it does with the actual editing together of a single video, perhaps with some Pin P or split-screen portions.īTW my biggest difficulty - which may make me finally cry "uncle" and get Premier of try to learn Resolve - is getting around all the endless "eye-candy" ghee-wiz fonts, effects and other "features" to do the serious cut-and-splice editing and occasional simple titling and transitions that are the norm for such video.PowerDirector 16's power is shown off in this mode where you can add effects, transitions, color match, add titles and text, and more. Probably the fact that I am pre-processing all clips through Handbrake (great program BTW) a with standardized settings and reducing the 4K files from the Pan G85 and Oly EM1ii to HD files helps. At least as far as accepting the video from the three (in this case) cameras and synchronizing them to the digital audio track. PD 16 seems to be working fine for me now that is, it has only crashed once. Interestingly, all but the actual PD exe files did find the old copies and query about uninstalling and replacing them, The simple solution, rec'd by a programmer neighbour was simply to install the Cyberlink - proffered list of download links for replacement software over the existing ("imvisible") apps. This actually proved difficult because the Windows 10 uninstall utility and a 3rd party one I then downloaded and tried could not "see" the program, although tracking through its alias and Windows and DOS directory searches could. In a word, the solution was a complete uninstall and new install of PD and associated "feature" packages most of no interest) the existing install had refused updates). Took almost 48 hours and wading through a quite number of automated forms, but two, even three people obviously gave my problems real attention. First of all, Cyberlink product support techs did finally get back to me with detailed and informative information. ![]() Thank you for your thoughtful and detailed reply. Occasionally, older versions of a product are more reliable, at least until patches fix glitches associated with newer versions. In any case, any project with a long timeline, lots of "effects," and a need for live-rendering for preview will stress any software and PC. But any occasional crash difficulties I have with PD 12 involve 4k projects that push the limits of my 2013-vintage gaming laptop. Almost any program (consider MS Internet Explorer!) can occasionally hang or crash. ![]() ![]() I happen to know a fair amount about PD 12, which works fine for multiple purposes, with none of the problems you describe. The expertise about video editing software is not near as deep. A lot of participants may be knowledgeable about Adobe Premier, at least in the case of still photos. The DPR forums are mainly about hardware. Your problems may go away if you use proxy files or set your preview settings to a lower resolution. My guess is that any work with 4k h.265 format requires a hefty amount of PC spec. Your initial post makes no mention of h.265 video (which only the GH5 employs in a particular mode), but you later say this is relevant. Your best hope for useful feedback is at the Cyberlink PowerDirector User Forum.īTW, the first things you will need to disclose, before you get a meaningful reply, are your PC specs, OS, and project timeline parameters.
